The classic and main objective of the geotechnical studies is still the foundation of the work. However, any of the projects and works mentioned herewith requires a global analysis, including the definition and solution of geological and geotechnical problems that may affect the performance or functionality of the work.

It requires a detailed knowledge of the lithology and geological structure of the different materials that exist in the area of the work and its environment, and especially the presence and dynamics of ground water levels present.

For all the above, in order to perform the geotechnical studies is necessary to involve a multidisciplinary team, who knows the projects from the technical point of view and can integrate this knowledge with the geological and geotechnical situation.



The first step is the definition of a good inspection campaign. Different research methods must be properly combined: geotechnical surveys, presiometric tests, dynamic or static penetration tests, in situ permeability tests, pits of recognition, etc., always supported by a geological survey of the area.

With good baseline data will reach the knowledge of soil structure and the allocation of the geotechnical parameters required for the project, as well as detection and resolution of geological-geotechnical problems.
